This small south facing extension replaced an existing faux Victorian conservatory. The small existing opening onto this conservatory, given its orientation, had meant that the kitchen behind was permanently in gloom.
Our solution does the opposite: the whole of the new rear wall is devoted to the new aluminium sliding doors, which in fact rise up higher than the ceiling level to maximise the effect of light penetrating the space. The rear facade utilises technology and detailing most often seen in office buildings, including a polyester powder coated spandrel panel above the doors. The additional height of the aluminium assembly, aligning with the brick piers either side, matches the scale of the house.
