Avenue Road
This brick built detached family house in the heart of Bishop’s Stortford was in need of complete refurbishment and cladding, and more space was required for the needs of this young family including home working. The property was extended on two storeys to the side and rear of the existing house. This created a new open plan family living space onto the garden and a master suite with dressing room on the first floor. The project also gave us an opportunity to improve the energy efficiency of the whole house with increased levels of insulation throughout and new high performance windows. All external joinery and cladding was manufactured from Accoya, a sustainable modified softwood. Hertfordshire Association of Architects (RIBA) Awards 2022: commendation.
A bespoke sliding external window assembly was designed for the project that included a window seat with storage beneath. Viewed from outside this arrangement ties together the whole of the ground floor extension with the use of a single material, in this case stained Accoya engineered softwood timber which is a sustainable alternative to hardwoods.
Roman has been ever present throughout the build, easily contactable, working with our builders and helping us navigate the process of a full house renovation.
The end result has exceeded our expectations and we’d highly recommend both Roman and Nicola.
